Perhaps as much at home in the saddle as the historic characters he painted, Lance Kent traveled as much as possible collecting ideas and research material. Lance drew upon a great variety of sources for his work but was a firm believer in firsthand information. Lance's primary purpose , besides loving history, was to LIVE history by joining re-enactor groups and gaining firsthand knowledge of life in other times to make his paintings accurate as possible.
ARTIST STATEMENT: "I needed to know the feel of sleeping with your head on a saddle and the exhilaration of a cavalry charge with a company of other soldiers."

Lance resided in Bonanza Oregon until his passing in 2009.
